Established in 1981 Croatian Australian Welfare Centre was supported by Croatrian Clubs and Community.Today CAWC is a Government recognised non-profit community organisation with activities spread across the social stratum and include the following:

Community Services
The Croatian Australian Welfare Centre Cooperative Limited (CAWC) was established in 1981 with the central goal of breaking down the barriers experienced by people of Croatian background. The CAWC has provided social welfare services and run various projects over the past 30 years for people living in the Sydney Metropolitan Area whose primary language is Croatian

The 2001 Burea of Statistics data showed there were 18,420 people who identified themselves as being Croatian of which close to 70% would be 60 years or over by 2010. Many of these Seniors speak minimal or no Croatian. Thus, for the past five years, the CAWC has focused its limited resources to supporting the seniors and disadvantaged in the Croatian community.

			Marija Oreskovic is the Aged Care Officer for the CAWC. From May 2011 to March 2012, she is employed one day per week.

			CAWC Committee
			The current committee consists of: As per the CAWC constitution, the committee members hold their position for one year. They resign at the annual general meeting. Retiring directors may stand for re-election. If you are interested in helping or standing as a member of the committee please contact the CAWC.
	The office is open from 9am to 1pm on Mondays and Tuesdays during the year. There is an answering machine so you can ring outside working hours and leave a message for our worker. Our worker will endeavour to phone you back as soon as they can during working hours. In order to help you receive timely help, we encourage you to phone and organise an appointment time

			If you would like to become a member of the CAWC please contact our worker, Marija Oreskovic. There is an annual subscription.

Education
CAWC delivers every year presentations to hundreds of members of Croatian Community in the area of health and welfare.

Our presentations
All presentations deliver clear messages in positive, interactive style. Our sessions help elderly people to recognise and managehealth risks and make safer choices. The presenter program includes presenters who have experience as well as qualified educators. Each presentation is tailored to the age and needs of the people participating.
